<>I always get excited when a I see a Filipino restaurant here in Sydney. Makes me miss less the Filipino home cooked meals. Sure, I cook them at home everyday – but it just tastes better when somebody else cooks it for me. Right? Or is it just me. The Sizzling Fillo restaurant in Lidcombe is a must visit if you are like me and thinks that Filipino food prepared by other people is always yummier.</>
The restaurant is just right across the train station so if parking is a problem, you can always take the train to visit the place. We came in during Father’s day. Because we didn’t have any reservation we are so prepared to be turned away. Luckily, the “ates” were so nice and gave us a table.
The menu was basic Filipino dishes. Lovely. Just what we wanted but the desserts were a level up of what we are used to. So we ordered the mix noodles, sizzling beef steak “bistek” tagalog, liempo (grilled pork belly) and of course a large serving of steamed rice.
Our order arrived not too long. Serving sizes vary. For the noodles and rice it was a good big size but for the pork belly and bistek it’s a bit on the small size. The verdict? We finished everything we have ordered. Even the bub enjoyed the noodles and the “taba” pork fat of the liempo.
Unfortunately, we didn’t leave a room for the sweets. It was disappointing because there were really some interesting ones on the menu. perhaps we should organize another visit on the place.
Sizzling Fillo also offers catering and boodle fight. For those who do not know, boodle fight is the term used in the military when they eat. All the food is served on the table covered with banana leaves, The entire table would be covered with rice and topped with all kinds of viand and side dishes. And everyone shares. Boodle fight prices vary depending on what you would like included in your meal.
