<>Autumn is almost here! When the sun is out and the air is cool, it makes me want to eat outside. The garden setting of the Grounds of Alexandria would be the perfect setting for that.</>
Located in Huntley St. in Alexandria, the place is packed during the weekends when all the brunch eaters flock the place. There are at least 4 restaurants to choose from and the stalls that dot the entire place. We always go straight to the Garden cafe. It is the counter right in the middle of the bustling area of the Grounds.
The cafe in the Grounds of Alexandria is surrounded by communal table where flowering vines on the trellis gives shade to the crowd enjoying a meal. Since I love chicken burgers I ordered Captain Chook with chips. We also ordered a pizza with caramelized onion, prosciutto, roasted peach, buffalo curd, Roquette and vino cotto and the Big Cheese burger. For drinks, we bought our fresh lemonade from the stall outside the cafe near the entrance. I could never get enough of their burger. Its thick, tasty and juicy. The chicken was bigger than the bun. Plus the coleslaw perfectly compliments the burger with its sweet and tangy flavor. The pizza was okay for me. Generous portions of prosciutto covered the pizza but not much caramelized onion. The roasted peaches was a delight. The Big Cheese was too ordinary. Sorry.
Brunch in the Grounds is always a pleasant experience. Especially if you get a good seat. You just have to be a bit patient when dining on a weekend as tourists and locals will all be filling up the place. Don’t forget to try those chocolate covered fruits and nuts being sold along the walkway. The nougats too are to die for. A mix of everything will be the perfect sweets to take home.
